Terms of Service

These terms cover edie, a personal WhatsApp-based household assistant built and operated by Kathryn Clifton (trading as "edie") for a small, personally-known group of families. edie is currently offered free of charge, as a pilot — there is no subscription, payment or trial-conversion process today, so those terms aren't included here yet. If that changes, this page will be updated first and families will be told directly, with fair notice, before anything is charged.

Who can use edie

edie is for parents and carers aged 18 or over, acting on behalf of their own household. Children in the household don't use edie directly. If you connect a calendar, task list or email you share with someone else (a co-parent, for example), you confirm you're entitled to share it with edie.

AI accuracy — please read this one

edie uses an AI model to read what you send and work out what to do with it. It can make mistakes: misreading a date, assigning something to the wrong person, or missing something entirely. edie is a helper, not a guarantee — please always check anything time-sensitive or important yourself (medical, school, payment or legal deadlines especially), rather than relying on edie alone.

Your account

Keep your portal password to yourself. You're responsible for what you connect, forward, or ask edie to do on your household's behalf.

Acceptable use

Please don't use edie for anything unlawful, or try to disrupt, overload or break the service.

Availability

edie is a personal, pilot-stage project, run on ordinary hosting rather than enterprise infrastructure, and depends on third-party services (WhatsApp/Vonage, Google, Apple, Anthropic) that Kathryn doesn't control. There's no guarantee of uninterrupted availability.

Liability

edie is provided as-is, without warranties beyond what the law requires. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited or excluded, nor does it affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending the service

You can stop using edie, or ask for your household's data to be deleted, at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how. Kathryn may also suspend or close an account, for example for misuse of the service.

Changes to these terms

Kathryn will tell you by WhatsApp before any change that affects you significantly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
